        35 years old. Getting married in October. Living in Taiwan. Software engineer - 9 years. Running software engineering co-op (see: 508.dev).

        Currently working 60+ hour weeks for AI company, mostly to recharge savings after taking a few months break from work. Also handling all accounting for co-op. Also frequently plans large co-working events for digital nomads in Taiwan.

        Very ADHD, lately learning a lot about this to improve life.

        Enjoys making videos and taking photos, but never has time to get editing done. Enjoys motorcycling, does so frequently. Loves reading and writing.

        I struggle with

      • 508.dev background

        Founded in 2021. Essentially an engineering agency. Clients hire our engineers on an hourly basis to integrate into their teams typically for short term work (3-9 months, sometimes longer).

        Very non-traditional company: NOT profit driven! As a co-op, the company is "owned" by all the "employees" (in reality, Caleb is the only owner, and everyone is a contractor, however these rights are guaranteed by their Member Agreement and Subcontracting Agreements). Thus, margins are very narrow (currently 15%, with 10% available for BD/Referral fees). Also, our priorities are on the well being of our members, so for example we're hesitant to add buy-out clauses to our contracts, since we want our clients to have every incentive possible to hire our engineers.

        Revenue was relatively flat until last year, when we jumped from ~30k/year to ~300k/year due to a friend of mine with a huge network joining. We have growing pains from this, and are figuring out what we want to do next, while maintaining our values.
